My Story

Joshua Paul Arnold is a Portland native, community leader, and nonprofit director dedicated to uplifting vulnerable youth and underserved communities. Overcoming a challenging childhood in the foster care system and early struggles with poverty and instability, Joshua charted a path of resilience—earning his GED two years ahead of his class, graduating from Portland State University Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Social Science, and pursuing advanced studies in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

He is the founder and president of Our Health Matters (OHM), a 501(c)(3)/509(a)(2) nonprofit that creates positive change through mentorship, creative arts, community clean-ups, and outreach events such as Paint it Forward, Feed the People, and Bouncing Feathers.

Joshua is also a certified Peer and Recovery Mentor, an ordained Melchizedek Priesthood holder, and a third-generation Reiki practitioner.

His diverse professional background includes work in security as an armed DPSST-certified patrol officer, advocacy with youth in detention and foster care, and creative pursuits as a muralist, writer, and event organizer. He has collaborated with partners such as Urban Alchemy, Costco, CVS, and Trillium Insurance, consistently building bridges between communities and resources.

Guided by his motto—“Catalyst for change, leading by example”—Joshua continues to blend his personal story, academic achievements, and professional expertise to inspire others, empower youth, and pursue his career goal of serving as a probation and parole officer.
